Mission #127 - 15 August - Foret De Chantilly Fuel Depot. Captain Hulse and Lt. Conte, BN led Box I with Major Napier and Lt. Jones, BN leading Box II. Lt. Greene and Lt. Nichols, flew deputy on Captain Hulse. Lts. Adams and Hanlon, BN and Lts. Cole and Basnett, BN led flights. A cloud bank with slightly broken cloud layers moved into the target area. Lt. The bomb load was fragmentation bombs, and when Conte caught sight of the target, he zeroed in and dropped the box load with 95 percent of the bombs landing in the fuel dump, scoring an excellent.

August 15th, 1944
After a one-day stand-down on August 14th, the 416th renewed their efforts against the enemy in the Argentan-Falaid sector, when the Havocs ranged over the channel to hit a fuel dump on the evening of August 15th . The dump, located at Foret de Chantilly, was well concealed in the woods, and area bombing had to be employed. Crews reported fires and probable hits on the dump. Flak encountered at the target was moderate, but inaccurate. There was a heavy cloud in the target area, which is no doubt responsible for the moderate intensity of the flak. There are 11 heavy guns plotted within range of the target and intense flak has been encountered in the area previously.
