"416th Bombardment Group (L) - Group History 1945"

There was no mission on the 29th. On the 30th, an ordnance depot and barracks area at Hann Munden were attacked. A 7/10ths to 8/10ths cloud cover made it necessary to bomb on two PPF planes. There were no observations of the results. Three aircraft suffered battle damage. The box leaders were Major Ferris and Lt. Brewster.

Mission #257 - 30 March - Hann Munden Depot. Another PFF pathfinder mission B-26s leading the formation. Our group box leaders were Major Ferris with Lt. Brewster This was an ordnance depot and barracks area. Captain Tutt, Lt. Orr BN and Lts Lackovich and Muir BN, plus Lt. Van Noorden with F/O Brandt BN, led flights. Five ships received battle damage from moderate flak.

No mission was flown on March 29th, but on March 30th, PPF technique was used to bomb the Hann Munden Ordnance Depot and Barracks. Lt. Blomgren and Lt. Johnson led the second flight of the second box. The results of the bombing were undetermined.

On the 30th, the Hann Munden Ordnance Depot and barracks area was bombed with unknown results due to bad weather. Twelve of our crews took part.

March 30th, 1945

The Hann Munden Ordinance Depot, 10 miles northeast of Kassel was saturated with 1,000 pound bombs from the 416th and two other groups on March 30th . Bombing by pathfinder through clouds, results were undetermined. This depot consists of some 25 motor transport repair sheds and barracks area. The formation ran into moderate flak, five ships being battle damaged.
