The new Douglas A-26 "Invader" twin-engine light attack bomber was introduced to the 416th Bomb Group
at the end of September, 1944. Following the A-20 to A-26 transition training, the first 416th BG Combat Mission
flown with A-26's was Mission 159, November 17, 1944.
The Group completely converted from the Douglas A-20 "Havoc" to the Invader by February, 1945
and completed all remaining Combat Missions flying A-26's.
