Obituary

Norman V. Shainberg

Norman V. Shainberg, 70, of Venice died Nov. 23 at Venice Hospital.

He was born in Memphis Tenn., and came to this area 26 years ago from Caruthersville, Mo. He was a retired builder and broker for Lewis Homes. He was a past president of the Venice Lions Club, treasurer of the Venice Lions Club Foundation Inc. and first president of the Mission Valley Civic Association.

He is survived by his wife, Perry; two daughters, Syndney Sass of Charlotte, N.C., and Leigh Howell of Denver; a brother, Roy of Nashville; and four grandchildren.

Notes:
Hit by flak over target area, fell out of formation with right engine feathered and smoking badly, went off to left toward Abbeville Drucat, Airdrome. No parachutes reported.

Description:
Lt. Norman V. Shainberg's plane was hit by flak and was last seen heading toward our lines, losing altitude. One or two crews reported seeing it crash. No chutes were seen to emerge. Lt. Shainberg and his two gunners, Sgt. J.D. Dugan and Sgt. L.B. Curtis, are listed as MIA.
