Notes:
Hit by flak over target area, fell out of formation with right engine feathered and smoking badly, went off to left toward Abbeville Drucat, Airdrome. No parachutes reported.

Description:
Lt. Norman V. Shainberg's plane was hit by flak and was last seen heading toward our lines, losing altitude. One or two crews reported seeing it crash. No chutes were seen to emerge. Lt. Shainberg and his two gunners, Sgt. J.D. Dugan and Sgt. L.B. Curtis, are listed as MIA.
