Fort Kent--- Alberie J. Nadeau, 100, passed away April 17, 2024, at a Fort Kent healthcare facility. He was born January 8, 1924, in Fort Kent, a son of the late Damase and Elodie (Daigle) Nadeau. He was a graduate of Fort Kent Community High School, Class of 1942.

Alberie enlisted in the US Army Air Force during World War II, replacing his brother who was to be drafted at the time, and served several years in France and Europe. Alberie was Fort Kent’s Wastewater Treatment Plant operator for almost 20 years, before his retirement in 1986. Previously he worked several years in construction and driving fuel delivery for former Arthur Daigle’s Fuels and Automotive. Alberie was a life member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Fort Kent Senior Citizens. He was also a volunteer firefighter for over 30 years with the Fort Kent Fire Department.

He is survived by six children, Gloria Saucier and her husband Dana of Eagle Lake, Rita Cyr and her husband Phil of Bradley, Donna Freeman and her husband Lee of Florida, Paul Nadeau and his wife Helen of Eagle Lake, Tom Nadeau and his wife Debbie of Texas, and Peter Nadeau and his wife Rebecca of Florida; 15 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Alberie was predeceased by his wife of almost 68 years, Geneva (Michaud) Nadeau in 2014, and twelve siblings, Loanna Rioux, Edwina Chamberland, Lucille Bazinet, Lorraine Boucher, Janelle Madore, infant Lionel, Valmond, Odon, Guy, Lucien, Zephirin, and Ludger Nadeau

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, April 29, 2024, at St. Louis Church, Fort Kent. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Legion, Post #133, Fort Kent, or to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, 14 E. Main St., Fort Kent.
