Arkadelphia Flier Dies In Accident Arkadelphia, Oct. 10. - Second Lt. Frederick H. McVay, 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick W. McVay of Arkadephia, was killed in an airplane accident at Fenton, La., today, the parents were notified by Lt. Col. Richard D. Dick, commanding officer of the Lake Charles Air Force School. Lieutenant McVay was a navgator and bombardier on a heavy bomber. He was born in Little Rock and attended high school there, coming to Arkadelphia with his parents, graduating from Arkadelphia High School and Henderson State Teachers College. He was a member of Company H, Arkansas National Guard, and served in Alaska 13 months, returning to the United States on being transferred to the Air Corps. He trainied at Santa Ana, Cal., and other points before being stationed at Lake Charles. The body will be sent to Arkadelphia. Extracted from Newspapers.com |
