Sgt Everett Lee Bass SGT USAAF WWII416th Bomb Group, 669th Bomb Squadron, Based at Lake Charles Army Air Field, LouisianaASN 34303730 He was the son of Reverend Robert Lee Bass and Vangie Kate Wood Bass of Spindale, North Carolina. He had siblings, Reverend William 'Bill' Bass, Myrle Bass Allred, Mary Lou Bass Bigler, and Sara Louise Bass Tolbert. He was married at the time of his loss. He entered the Air Corps on 14 May 1942.He was killed while on duty as a gunner over the Gulf of Mexico. He died in A-20G # 42-54040, an attack bomber type aircraft, when the plane crashed into the water approximately three miles west of Calcasieu Pass, and approximately four miles off the Louisiana coast. The crew members killed in this crash were~ 2nd Lt Walter C Morris, Pilot, ASN O-684382, from Lancaster, Garrard Co KYSgt Hughes M Braud, ASN 34076768, Position ?, from St James Parish LASgt Everett L Bass, ASN 34303730, Gunner, from Rutherford Co NC Note~ Remains not recovered.
