Great Western Branson Towers
The
2010 reunion of the 416th Bomb Group was
held again at the Great Western Branson Towers in Branson, Missouri.
Attendees
were
welcomed on Wednesday evening with an informal reception at the hotel.
The popular hospitality
room, with drinks and snacks, was open throughout the event for
socializing. Members and family brought photo albums and
memorabilia to display. A group outing to the Starlite theater
for dinner and a Bill Medley show was enjoyed by all and included a
personal slide show tribute to the 416th.
The traditional
banquet was held on Saturday evening with a video presentation about
416th members killed in action and buried in ABMC cemeteries in
Europe. The video was followed by a presentation by Margaret
McEvoy that included the reading of a letter written to her family by
Jack Sittarich at the end of the war. Jack was the
gunner with Jimmy Kenny when their plane was shot down. Kenny was
killed in action and is buried at Lorraine cemetery in France.
Sittarich was taken prisoner and was present at the reunion.
